Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) was established in 1954. In addition to its focus on the theory and practice of foreign languages, HUFS also encourages students to use the language skills that they have acquired to study the politics, economy, society and culture of each region of the world. HUFS is a specialized university that educates students to become creative experts, international Koreans and independent researchers who will contribute to the development and exchange of culture.

HUFS is the birthplace of foreign language education in Korea and teaches 45 major languages of Asia, the Middle East and other major regions of the world. HUFS graduates now play vital roles in international trade and diplomatic affairs.

Around 35% of all undergraduate courses are taught in a foreign language other than Korean. Please refer to the list of majors/departments which offer many courses in English

Obama Hall
The Multi-purpose Obama Hall can accommodate up to about 2,000 people. This multi-purpose Hall can host major events like entrance and commencement ceremonies, job fairs, or briefing sessions on admission requirements. The hall is suitable for every type of performance as it is equipped with all necessary sound and lighting facilities.

Minerva Fitness Center
The 397m² Fitness Center is furnished with latest sport equipment and facilities. It is the ideal place for students who want to stay physically fit. This center is located in the Minerva complex.

Big Apple Lounge
The Big Apple lounge built for maximum natural lighting and ventilation between buildings has been designed to also serve as a rest and networking area for all domestic and international students

Audio-Visual Education Center
The Audio-Visual Education Center was established in September 1962 in accordance with the founding ideas of the University which are to contribute to international cultural exchange and development by teaching and researching theories and practices according to the different countries' politics, economics, society, culture and science and languages.

BRICs Hall
This hall can accommodate around 150 students and a lot of cultural events are regularly held in this hall.
