1. Jeonju Kijeon Womens College is the only women college in Jeollabuk-do, which has
inherited 100 years tradition of female education in Korea, and has produced about 20
thousand graduates whose employment rate is more than 87%. 2. In 2001 and 2002, the Ministry
of Education and Human Resources has designated this school, It specializes in a program to
nurture professional technicians for BT industry and provided it with financial supports. The
program aims to train professional technicians to be equipped with the routine work in a
short time and in an effective way which is used in key, up-to-date, and professional
technologies needed for food and bio industries and to reeducate and produce the technicians
through experiments and practices.
3. This school was selected to be financially supported by the Ministry of Education and
Human Resources on account of its characterization project, A Program to Educate Grown-up
Females for Inheriting and Developing Traditional Cultures and Arts. The projects aims to
develop cultural industries, nurture women capabilities and cultivate cultural life based on
the characteristics of Jeonju district. And the education is conducted in an industry &
demander-oriented and custom-tailored way.
4. A free education program is continuously offered to the inmates after this school
established sisterhood relationship with a protection and observation agency. The school has
participated in collaborated research activities along with industries and the government,
served as volunteers for varied events performed in Jeonju City, played a part in supporters
activities for Paraguay during the World Cup Game, and trained many scout leaders. The school
library is open to local residents to contribute to experiencing and inheriting traditional
cultures of Korea.
