Division of East Asian Studies (DEA)

▶ Introduction
The Division of East Asian Studies(formerly known as the EastASIA International College), which Yonsei University Mirae Campus introduced in 2008, aims to nurture and develop budding professionals who will play leading roles in the global age of the twenty-first century, as East Asia is becoming a new growth center.
This educational program is run by internationally known and competitive faculty from home and abroad, and is designed to attract outstanding students not only from Korea but from all nations, thus making it a genuinely international program.
Its curriculum is carefully designed for students to build their specialized knowledge on a strong foundation of the liberal arts such as the humanities and social sciences. The program's courses incorporate a rich layer of classes on East Asian culture, history, politics, economics, and business management, so students can become globally competent experts on East Asia in their fields of study. All courses are conducted exclusively in English.
1) English is the official language in DEA. All students are required to have native speaker level of English proficiency. Therefore, all the courses are taught in English.
2) DEA provides curriculum of deep insight of many areas related to East Asia, ranging from history to contemporary issues East Asia.
3) The balance of lecture and debate based classes provides an opportunity of developing critical reasoning in the related areas.
4) In addition, all graduates will be required to have high proficiency in a language of East Asian regions. (Chinese, Japanese, Korean)
5) DEA provides opportunities of overseas field trips. There are two oversea filed trips covered by the DEA, where students can have on site experience of applying their knowledge learned in courses. (language skills and theories)
6) Diverse career path is another attractive factor in DEA. Studying in DEA will provide you numerous paths, such as, positions in governmental and non-governmental organizations, and economics and business related areas as well.
7) DEA provides several of scholarship based on your GPA and Language Skills. There are also scholarships available for those who are in need of urgent financial support as well.
