1. Tell us something about yourself?

1. 당신에 대해 얘기해주세요.
I am Amar Prasad Gupta, a 2012 GKS-Undergraduate scholar from Nepal.
I went to Kyung Hee University for language school and stayed there from my under graduate studies through my PhD in Physics.
저는 네팔 출신의 2012년 GKS-학사과정 졸업자 아마르 프라사드 굽타입니다.
희대학교에 어학원을 다녔고 학사부터 물리학 박사 과정까지 마쳤습니다.

2. WHAT IS THE BEST MEMORY FROM YOUR GKS LIFE?

2. 당신의 GKS 인생에서 가장 좋았던 기억은 무엇입니까?
One of my best memories is studying Korean with classmates from so many different countries and discovering their cultures and ways of thinking. In those days, we were not just learning a language; we were learning about the world through each other. Many of the friends I made then have become friends for life.
제가 가장 기억에 남는 추억 중 하나는 다양한 나라의 반 친구들과 함께 한국어를 공부하고 그들의 문화와 사고방식을 발견한 것입니다. 당시 우리는 단순히 언어를 배우는 것이 아니라 서로를 통해 세상에 대해 배우고 있었습니다. 그때 사귀었던 많은 친구들이 평생의 친구가 되었습니다.

3. HOW HAS GKS

INFLUENCED/CHANGED YOUR LIFE? DO YOU THINK COMING TO KOREA WAS A GOOD DECISION?
3.GKS는 당신의 삶에 어떤 영향을 미쳤나요?
한국에 온 것이 좋은 결정이었다고 생각하시나요?
Before coming to Korea, I was like a small frog in a tiny pond, innocent and unaware of worldly things. GKS and Korea transformed me into a researcher, a thinker, and above all a global scholar who can see beyond my own country. Coming to Korea was one of the best decisions of my life. If I could go back in time and choose again in many possible multiverses, I would still choose Korea every single time.
한국에 오기 전 저는 작은 연못 속의 작은 개구리처럼 순진하고 세상물정 잘 모르는 사람이었습니다.
GKS와 한국은 저를 연구자이자 사상가, 무엇보다도 제 나라 너머를 볼 수 있는 글로벌 학자로 탈바꿈시켰습니다. 한국에 온 것은 제 인생에서 가장 좋은 결정 중 하나였습니다. 시간을 거슬러 올라가 멀티버스에서 다시 선택할 수 있다면 그때도 한국을 선택할 것입니다.

4. WHAT HARDSHIPS DID YOU FACE IN KOREA WHEN YOU FIRST CAME HERE AND HOW DID YOU ADJUST?

4.한국에 처음 왔을 때 어떤 어려움을 겪었고 어떻게 적응했나요?
Language, food, and culture were definitely the hardest parts at the beginning. Everything felt unfamiliar. Slowly and gradually, with fewer complaints and less resistance, I gave myself the opportunity to accept Korean culture and its way of life. In return, Korea opened countless opportunities for me to become who I am today.
언어, 음식, 문화가 처음에는 확실히 가장 어려운 부분 이었습니다. 모든 것이 낯설게 느껴졌습니다. 천천히 그리고 점차 어려움이 줄어들면서 저는 한국 문화와 그 생활 방식을 받아들일 수 있는 기회를 갖게 되었습니다. 그것에 대한 보상으로 한국은 제가 오늘의 저로 거듭날 수 있는 수많은 기회를 열어주었습니다.

5. ONE ADVICE YOU WOULD LIKE TO GIVE TO FUTURE SCHOLARS?

5. 미래 GKS 후배들에게 한 가지 조언 부탁드립니다?
Being away from home, you may sometimes feel lost because so many things are different from what you were used to. But remember: "Every Crisis is an Opportunity in Disguise" Statistically, GKS scholars are rare, and you are less than 0.1% of all students in Korea. That means you already carry something special within you. Believe in yourself, build your confidence, and keep striving for your dreams. For you, the sky is not the limit, your mind is & this is just the beginning.
집을 떠나 있으면 예전과 너무 많은 것들이 다르기 때문에 때때로 길을 잃은 기분이 들 수 있습니다. 하지만 기억하세요 :"모든 위기는 변장의 기회" 통계적으로 볼 때, GKS 학자는 드물며, 한국 학생의 0.1% 미만입니다. 즉, 이미 특별한 무언가를 마음속에 품고 있다는 뜻입니다. 자신을 믿고 자신감을 쌓고 꿈을 위해 계속 노력하세요. 여러분에게 하늘은 한계가 아니며 마음은 한계일 뿐이며 이것은 시작에 불과합니다.
