저는 2012년 여름 GKS 장학생으로 선발되어 처음으로 한국에 갔습니다. 인천공항에 도착해서 수원의 성균어학원에 도착하기까지 아무런 사고 없이 모든 절차가 완벽하게 진행되었습니다. 공항에서 기숙사까지 매끄럽게 GKS 학생들을 안내하면서 끊임없이 노력해주신 신 선생님께 감사드립니다. 신 선생님은 기숙사 입구에서 저를 반갑게 맞아주고 짐 나르기를 도와주셨는데 저는 아직도 그 기억이 선명합니다. 외국에서의 첫날의 모습을 상상해 보십시오. 신 선생님을 만나니 마치 오랫동안 보지 못했던 친구를 만난 것만 같았습니다. 저는 선생님의 따뜻한 환대에 감동했습니다. 선생님은 성균어학원 1년 과정 내내 거의 모든 일을 도와주셨습니다. 학생들의 생활비가 제 때 입금될 수 있도록 해주셨고, 비자 신청 절차를 도와주셨으며, 겨울철이면 난방기구를 점검하여 학생들이 항상 따뜻하고 편안하게 지낼 수 있도록 해주셨습니다. 필요할 때면 늘 도움을 주시던 선생님 덕분에 한국에서의 첫 해를 편안하고 즐거운 시간으로 보낼 수 있었습니다. 선생님의 헌신과 노력은 저를 비롯한 성균어학원의 모든 GKS 학생들에게 깊은 인상을 주었습니다. 최고의 GKS 선생님인 신 선생님을 만난 것을 영광으로 생각합니다. 안타깝게도 선생님과 함께 찍은 사진이 없습니다. 아쉽게나마 2012년 이른 가을 성균관대학교(수원) 입구에서 찍은 제 사진을 올립니다.

I first arrived in South Korea in the summer of 2012. On the first day, when I arrived at the airport, everything went perfectly smooth. I arrived at Sungkyunkwan Language Institute in Suwon without any hassle. Thanks to Mr. Shin for his relentless effort in ensuring seamless process of transfer of the GKS students from the airport to the dormitory. I remembered exactly that Mr. Shin greeted us at the entrance of the dormitory, helping us with our luggages. He immediately caught my attention. Imagine being in a foreign country on the first day, and meeting Mr. Shin was like meeting a friend I have not seen for a long time. His warm hospitality touched my heart. Throughout the 1-year language course at Sungkyunkwan Language Institute, Mr. Shin was the one who offered help and assistance in almost everything. He ensured that our allowance is banked on time, assisted us on our visa application processes, checked on the heater during Winter season so that we are always warm and comfortable, and many more. My first year in Korea was hassle free and pleasant because Mr. Shin was always there whenever we needed his help. His dedication and commitment left a deep impression in me and every GKS students in Sungkyunkwan Language Institute. I am honored to have met him, and he certainly deserves to be the best GKS staff ever! Unfortunately, I do not have Mr. Shin’s photo.
