• University Library The University Library collects and provides academic information required for research activities and education of all users including professors, students and residents. The library has 6 branches: the main library, the electronic library and Muncheongak.. There are a total of 1.1 million volumes, and 19,000 journals. Electronic journals and overseas online databases are also available.
• University Museum The University Museum was established in 1984 to showcase the development through the ages of West Gyeongnam province, South Korea. The museum has more than 10,000 relics dating from the Old Stone Age, New Stone Age, and Bronze Age as well as some relics from the ancient tombs of Kaya. About 500 pieces are currently on display at the museum. • Centralized Scientific Instrumentation Facility (CSIF)
The CSIF was established to house and manage the university’s expensive and delicate scientific instruments. It helps conserve university financial resources by avoiding purchase overlap by individual colleges. The facility promotes research productivity as well by promptly providing faculty and students with the data they need for their research work. Currently, it is equipped with about 200 cutting- edge analysis devices such as a Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscope, Transmission Electron Microscope, Scanning Electron Microscope, Mass Spectrometer (GC/LC, Maldi-Tof Mass), EPMA, and X-ray machines. Students also receive support from branch laboratories in the College of Medicine (Chilam Campus) and the College of Marine Science (Tongyeong Campus).
• Newspaper and Broadcasting Center (NBC) The NBC is a university media center established with democratic ideals and a pioneering spirit. It aims to contribute to university development through the media. The NBC hosts the offices of the university’s weekly Korean language newspaper, the monthly English language magazine entitled Pioneer, and the Gyeongsang Broadcasting Station. All three media offer lively discussions about important and timely issues, and keep the university community informed about what’s going on. On September 20, 1980, the formerly separate GNU newspaper, English magazine, and broadcasting were integrated. The NBC quickly delivers all kinds of school news, increases the academic knowledge of students, and serves as a PR tool for the school. It also has many programs to support the career development of student reporters.
• Gyeongsang National University Press(GNU Press) The GNU press contributes to the creation of university culture and introduces the research achievements of GNU professors and regional specialties to others.The GNU press publishes books, theses, essays, and reports of academic value as well as textbooks, class materials, university brochures and booklets
• Students Dormitories GNU has a total of twelve dormitories, including two new dormitories constructed as a BTL project, which together can accommodate more than 3,000 students. The dormitory complex includes a computer room, reading room, movie theater lounge, and outdoor sport facilities. In an effort to enhance the well-being of students and faculty members, the university opened a gym which can accommodate up to 500 users. The gym is equipped with a billiard room, table tennis equipment and fitness facilities
• Lifelong Education Center (LEC) The LEC was founded in 1996 and had its first students in 1997. Its goal is to by the Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development. The e-Learning promote social development by providing educational programs to residents in the area as part of the university’s thrust for “open education.”The university shares personnel resources and facilities to promote a beneficial relationship with residents.
•Health Care Center(HCC) The HCC was opened in September 1985 to provide basic health care to 20,000 faculty members, staff, and students. The center also provides sanitary education and inoculations for influenza and hepatitis. In addition, it is equipped with preparatory facilities, keeps health statistics, and supplies first-aid kits.
• Science Education Center for the Gifted GNU’s Science Education Center for the Gifted was authorized as the 20th university education center on October 5, 2004 with financial assistance from the Ministry of Science and Technology. It was officially opened on November 24, 2004. The science Education Center for the Gifted is operated jointly by GNU and Jinju National University of Education. The Center’s elementary school course is taught at Jinju National University of Education, while GNU is in charge of the middle school course. A total of 40 professors from the two universities, with their abundant research and teaching experience, use the latest education and research facilities to fully develop gifted students. As many as 20 lecturers from the two universities and teachers from the region’s elementary, middle and high schools are also participating in the program. Field trips to research facilities and other educational sites are included to enhance the learning experience of students. The program is composed of elementary school courses (basic and intensive) and middle school courses (basic, intensive, and advanced). Students who pass the entrance exam to the basic course can go on to the next level after a year of study.
•Educational Information and Computer Center (EICC) Since 1980 when it opened as the Computing Office to help develop GNU’s information systems and services, the EICC has been expanding its functions. Currently, it consists of the Information Assistance Center and the e-Learning Assistance Center. The Information Process Office, Computer Operations Office,e-Learning Assistance Office, Information Education Office, Information Planning Office, Administration Office and the Information Service Team are sub-units of the two Centers. The Center develops and operates a wide range of information education programs required by students, college staff and regional residents. Of particular note, it has been designated as an e-Learning assistance center for universities in the Gyeongnam area and a long distance education institute by the Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development. The e-Learning center not only assists with the creation of virtual lectures and content within the university, it also assists e-Learning programs between different universities in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam. The center is now actively operating the Gyeongnam Information Center to contribute to the development of regional information. To live up to its mission as a knowledge hub for the region, the center offers e-Learning programs not only to university students but also to industrial workforces through academic-industrial collaboration.
•Career Service Center This center offers professional vocation consultation, employment information and career services to students to help them better enjoy their campus life and prepare for their futures. Various research and support activities are under way for this purpose. The center strives to develop and efficiently operate programs on career support, research and consultation.
•School of Language Education (SLE) In the age of globalization and information, SLE contributes to new knowledge and information by facilitating exchanges of human resources and academic activities with recognized universities around the world. It is equipped with cutting-edge facilities such as a language lab, library and multimedia room. The Institute aims to train professionals to be competent in the global market. Towards this goal, it has developed a variety of high quality foreign language educational programs to help improve the linguistic abilities of GNU students, educational staff and regional residents. Some of the programs the SLE offers include English conversation courses, test-preparation courses, and language courses in Japanese, French, Chinese, German, and Korean, as well as English immersion camps.
•Affiliated Middle and High Schools With the goal of educating our students to become good and wise people, we have manners and etiquette classes. We also offer programs in essay writing and co-ed classes for them to learn equality regardless of gender. We also have scholarship programs. By stocking ourselves with educational materials and equipment, we are creating an academic atmosphere for our students and improving the future quality of life for both faculty and students.
• Engineering Education Innovation Center The Engineering Education Innovation Center runs certified engineering programs that meets the international standard. It was chartered as an official affiliated institute of the School of Engineering and established in March, 2006. We expanded our influence and changed the name to the current name in October 2007. As a result, the center became one of the main centers in March 2009. Through engineering certification program, our graduates satisfy international standard and are recognized for their competence internationally.
• Center for Korean Language & Culture The Center for Korean Language and Culture has been designated as a representative national Korean consultant center in Gyeongnam province from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in accordance with the Framework Act on the Korean Language on October 1, 2005. It performs various activities (consulting on the Korean language, proofreading, Go-Provide Korean education, etc.) to assist the citizens of Gyeongnam in using the Korean language.
• ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Established in 1965 as the 126th Reserve Officers Training Corps, GNU’s ROTC program has already produced over 1,700 officers. From the applicants, those with strong potential are selected for the ROTC program. After training and character building, they are commissioned as junior officers (2nd lieutenant) upon college graduation. During their military service, they are encouraged to learn responsibility as individuals and their mission to society, as well as creativity and leadership. After completing their military service, they can either make their way into society or remain in the army to contribute to national development and defense,
